North Las Vegas police say hit-and-run driver struck unattended patrol motorcycle

A driver struck a North Las Vegas police patrol motorcycle from behind and fled, narrowly missing the officer, police said in a social media post shared publicly Oct. 23.

The officer had stepped away from the motorcycle when it was hit and was not injured, according to the North Las Vegas Police Department. The department did not specify when or where the collision happened, identify the driver or say whether anyone had been arrested.

“Behind every emergency vehicle is a person trying to do their job and get home safely,” the department said in its post, urging drivers to look up, slow down and move over.

Police said the reminder applies to emergency vehicles stopped along roadways, including police, fire and emergency medical services vehicles, as well as tow trucks.
