A 53-year-old woman was booked on an open-murder charge after her husband was found fatally stabbed inside a Las Vegas apartment early Thursday, police said.

Officers responded at about 5:34 a.m. to a reported stabbing in the 6700 block of Del Rey Avenue, near Rainbow and Oakey boulevards. They found a man and a woman with apparent stab wounds, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

Medical personnel pronounced the man dead at the scene. The woman, identified by police as Naima Ahmadi, was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening. Police said she had also stabbed herself.

Detectives from the department’s Homicide Section investigated. Ahmadi was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on a charge of open murder with a deadly weapon. The charge is an accusation, and the case will proceed through the court system.

The Clark County Coroner’s Office is expected to release the victim’s identity.
