JTA faces Fitch downgrade as Jacksonville council presses former CEO for answers

The Jacksonville Transportation Authority’s credit rating was downgraded by Fitch Ratings as Jacksonville City Council members continued their effort to question former JTA CEO Nat Ford about the agency’s finances.

Ford started a new position with Dallas Area Rapid Transit on Oct. 26, 2026. City Council members are keeping a subpoena for him in place and want him to answer questions at City Hall, either in person or by video, about financial problems expected to affect the JTA after he left.

The available information does not specify the new rating, the financial issues behind Fitch’s decision or when Ford is expected to testify. The downgrade and the council’s continuing push for answers put the authority’s finances under scrutiny as it moves forward without its former chief executive.
