A Colorado State University police officer was involved in a shooting on campus Monday evening, prompting a police response near the university’s Chemistry and Microbiology buildings in Fort Collins, according to Fort Collins police.
CSU sent an initial alert at 6 p.m. reporting police activity in the area. An alert issued at 6:50 p.m. said there was an “all clear,” but also warned that police activity would continue and told people to stay away from the immediate area around the buildings, located near West Pitkin Street.
A student told a local television reporter that they heard gunfire and saw people running.
Authorities had not released details about what led to the shooting, whether anyone was injured, or who else may have been involved. Fort Collins police said additional information would come from CSU police.
