Lockheed Martin expansion could bring up to 450 jobs to Douglas County
Lockheed Martin Space plans to expand in Douglas and Jefferson counties, with more than 1,000 jobs expected across the metro area. The company says Douglas County could gain 300 to 450 positions, including work in national security and civil space programs.
Lockheed Martin Space plans to expand its Colorado operations in Douglas and Jefferson counties, an expansion expected to add more than 1,000 jobs across the Denver metro area.
The company disclosed the plans Thursday evening at a Metro Denver Economic Development Corp. conference in Denver. In Douglas County, the expansion is expected to bring at least 300 jobs and as many as 450, said Kate Watts, Lockheed Martin Space’s vice president of strategy and business development.
The Douglas County operation will move into a second office building beside the company’s existing Highlands Ranch location on Kendrick Castillo Way. The expansion will involve work across national security space, civil space and business programs, Watts said.
The company’s Space division is headquartered in Jefferson County. The overall job estimate spans both counties, and the final distribution will depend on business needs and how the company’s operations grow, Watts said.
