Man dies after shooting at La Gran Plaza during suspected kiosk break-in

A man died Tuesday night after an armed security officer shot him at La Gran Plaza in Fort Worth, where police say he was breaking the glass of a jewelry kiosk.

Officers were called shortly after 8:30 p.m. to the shopping center in the 4200 block of South Freeway, near Seminary Drive. Police spokesperson Buddy Calzada said the man was using an object to break the kiosk’s glass when the nearby security officer fired, striking him at least once.

The wounded man ran across the parking lot and collapsed, police said. Responding officers began lifesaving efforts, including CPR. Fort Worth Fire Department emergency medical personnel pronounced him dead at the scene.

Police did not release the man’s identity or additional details about the shooting.
