Dallas police media-relations official faces internal investigation

A Dallas Police Department official who helps speak for the agency is under investigation by its Public Integrity Unit, the department confirmed Friday, Oct. 16.

Allison Hudson, an assistant director of media relations, is the subject of the inquiry. The department has not said what prompted it or provided details about the investigation.

A source familiar with the matter said the inquiry may be connected to a citizen complaint filed in August. The complaint reportedly concerned Hudson’s use of lights and sirens on a department-issued vehicle. That account has not been confirmed by police. Hudson is a civilian employee and is not authorized to use those emergency signals, according to the information reported about the complaint.

Hudson was at the scene Wednesday as Dallas police responded to an officer-involved shooting, but she did not appear at a Friday briefing about the incident. No public finding of misconduct has been announced.
