COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State’s men’s and women’s basketball teams will begin the 2026-27 season on Nov. 2, according to the Big Ten’s release of its detailed conference schedules. The men’s team will open against BYU in Salt Lake City and play eight nonconference games in November. The Buckeyes’ early schedule also includes a Nov. 13 trip to UConn and a Dec. 19 neutral-site matchup with Kansas in New York City. That game is scheduled for noon. Ohio State will start Big Ten play Dec. 2 at Nebraska. The conference schedule includes 10 road games and 10 at home, ending with a March 7 visit from Michigan. Other notable conference opponents include Oregon, Iowa, Illinois, Purdue, Michigan State, UCLA and USC. The Big Ten Tournament is scheduled for March 9-14 in Indianapolis. Coach Jake Diebler’s team is seeking consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances after ending a four-year drought last season. Ohio State was eliminated by TCU in the opening round of last season’s tournament. The 2027 men’s NCAA Tournament is expected to feature an expanded 76-team field. The women’s team will begin its season at home against the University of Illinois Chicago. The Nov. 2 game will be played at the Schottenstein Center. The women’s nonconference schedule includes home games against UConn on Nov. 12 and Ole Miss on Nov. 18, as well as neutral-site games against Texas in Fort Worth on Nov. 22 and Stanford in San Francisco on Dec. 20. The Buckeyes will also host Oregon on Dec. 29 before beginning the listed conference portion of the schedule. Ohio State’s women will open Big Ten play Dec. 5 at Rutgers. The conference schedule includes road games at Michigan, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Maryland, Penn State, Indiana, UCLA and USC. The Buckeyes will host Maryland, Illinois, Minnesota, Northwestern, Michigan State, Washington, Purdue and Iowa. The women’s Big Ten Tournament is set for March 3-7 in Las Vegas. One of the women’s most prominent conference dates comes Feb. 18, when Ohio State visits UCLA, the defending national champion. The teams will meet again Feb. 21 at USC as part of a two-game Southern California road trip. Coach Kevin McGuff has led Ohio State to at least 20 wins in each of the past five seasons. The Buckeyes have, however, lost three consecutive NCAA Tournament second-round games played at home. The 2027 women’s Final Four will be held at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, with the national semifinals scheduled for April 2 and the championship game April 4. The women’s NCAA Tournament also is slated to expand to 76 teams.
