COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State fell to No. 7 in the latest Associated Press Top 25, marking the second consecutive week the Buckeyes have slipped in the rankings. The move came after Ohio State’s 59-3 victory over Kent State in Week 3. The Buckeyes were previously ranked higher but lost ground even after a dominant performance against the Golden Flashes. Texas held the No. 1 position after defeating Ohio State earlier in the season. Georgia remained No. 2, followed by Notre Dame at No. 3 after a 27-10 win over Michigan State. Ole Miss climbed four places to No. 4 after beating LSU 32-24, while Indiana moved into the No. 5 spot. Miami was ranked No. 6, one place ahead of Ohio State. The rest of the top 10 consisted of Alabama at No. 8, BYU at No. 9 and LSU at No. 10. LSU dropped three spots after its loss to Ole Miss. Texas A&M experienced the largest decline in the poll, falling 14 places to No. 23 after a 31-21 loss to previously unranked Kentucky. Ohio State is scheduled to return to the Horseshoe on Saturday against Illinois. Kickoff is set for noon.
