Bellefontaine schools place choir teacher on leave after arrest in juvenile-related case
A Bellefontaine City Schools choir teacher was arrested after police investigated an encounter involving a juvenile at a Love’s Travel Stop in Bellefontaine, authorities said. The district has placed the teacher on administrative leave. Police were sent to the travel stop on Oct. 4 after receiving a report about an adult man and a juvenile, Bellefontaine Police Chief Christopher S. Marlow said. Officers spoke with witnesses and complainants and found 33-year-old Brice Henry at the scene. According to Marlow, Henry had communicated on a dating app with someone he allegedly believed was 15, and that contact led him to go to the travel stop. Henry was booked into the Logan County Jail early Oct. 5. Henry was initially charged with importuning. After discussions with the Logan County Prosecutor’s Office, the charge moving forward will be attempted sexual conduct with a minor, Marlow said. The investigation remains active. The allegations have not been proven in court. Superintendent Brad Hall said the district learned of the arrest Oct. 5 and immediately placed Henry on administrative leave. Hall said the alleged incident took place off school grounds, not on school property, and that Henry’s access to district facilities and systems was revoked. The district is cooperating with the investigation, Hall said, but declined to provide further details, citing the active criminal matter and confidential personnel information.
