Barcelona-to-Chicago flight reports brake problem before O’Hare tire failure

An American Airlines flight arriving from Barcelona reported a brake problem before landing at Chicago O’Hare International Airport on Tuesday afternoon, and a tire blew after the plane touched down, federal officials said.

The crew of Flight 41 reported the brake issue at about 2:30 p.m., according to the Federal Aviation Administration. Passengers left the aircraft using stairs and were bused to the terminal, the agency said.

The Chicago Fire Department took one person to a local hospital to be checked out. The person was in good condition, fire officials said.

American Airlines said the plane experienced a tire issue and that emergency responders met it as a precaution. The airline said the aircraft was removed from service for inspection by its maintenance team and that passengers were transported safely to the terminal by bus.

The FAA said it will investigate the incident. It did not provide further details.
