Teen Escapes Baltimore Home After Alleged Attack; Man Faces Charges

A 23-year-old Baltimore man was arrested Oct. 24 and charged with attempted first-degree murder, kidnapping and first-degree assault in connection with the stabbing of a 15-year-old girl, police say.

The alleged attack happened Oct. 22 inside a home on Garrison Boulevard. According to charging documents, the girl accepted a ride from Abubakarr Barrie, whom she believed was operating an unlicensed taxi, and asked to go to a carryout on Belair Road. Police allege Barrie instead took her to the home, restrained her and told her to put down her phone and not scream.

The girl told investigators she fought back with a fire extinguisher and escaped. She knocked on doors until a resident let her use a phone to call her mother and 911. She was taken to Sinai Hospital with multiple wounds, the documents say.

Investigators linked Barrie to the case through information associated with a Cash App account and a phone number connected to it, according to the documents. Police also located a vehicle registered to Barrie that matched the girl’s description. Her missing iPhone 14 was tracked to the Garrison Boulevard address, the documents say.

The charges are allegations, and Barrie is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
