The FBI is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to those responsible for a shooting in East Baltimore that left a 3-year-old boy paralyzed and six other people wounded.
The shooting happened shortly after 9 p.m. Sept. 16 near North Caroline and East Fayette streets, by Douglass Homes. A Baltimore police officer on patrol heard gunfire and found several people shot, police said. Officers drove the boy to a hospital in a patrol car, where he underwent surgery.
Seven people were shot. Five were later released from the hospital. The boy and a 16-year-old girl were still hospitalized the next day; police then described the boy’s condition as serious but stable.
Mayor Brandon Scott condemned the shooting and urged anyone with information to come forward, including relatives or others who might know who was involved. “There is no way, no beef, no argument, no amount of money, no anything that can legitimize this kind of act, especially when you're talking about a 3-year-old child,” he said.
The case remains under investigation, and no arrests have been announced. The FBI is asking people with information to contact investigators.
