Columbia redevelopment replaces two aging apartment properties with 205 homes

Two redeveloped apartment communities in Columbia are opening with a combined 205 homes, replacing aging properties that previously contained 103 units.

The Vision at Parkway has 82 apartments, up from 41 in the building it replaces. Legacy at Cedar Lane has 123, replacing a 62-unit property. Together, the projects add 102 homes to the former sites’ total capacity.

The developments are part of a broader effort to replace older housing in the area. Both include one- to four-bedroom apartments, energy-efficient features and new community amenities.

Janine Lind, president of Enterprise Community Development, said the projects reflect Columbia founder Jim Rouse’s vision of a community open to people across income levels. She described the apartments as providing “deeply affordable opportunities,” though specific rents and eligibility details were not provided.
