Water-main break disrupts service near Rock Springs Road in Stonecrest

STONECREST, Ga. — Residents near Rock Springs Road and Ottawa Trail faced a second day of water service disruptions Thursday as DeKalb County crews worked to repair a broken water main in the neighborhood.

Some residents said their water dwindled to a trickle Wednesday evening before stopping altogether. One neighbor reported losing service around 6:30 p.m. A resident described the outage as frustrating, while Tysha Mitchell said she was waiting for repairs and planned to shower at a gym.

DeKalb County Watershed Management said interruptions should be expected while crews complete the work. The county is distributing bottled water at 3198 Ottawa Trail. It had not provided a timeline for completing the repair as of Thursday, and no boil-water advisory had been issued.

Repair crews and traffic cones were at the site Thursday morning, narrowing traffic near the work area. The break is separate from the county’s ongoing, phased effort to replace aging water mains along nearby Panola Road.

The county advises residents to run taps for a few minutes if water appears discolored after service returns.
