Clark Atlanta vigil honors Morgan Gamble after fatal crash

ATLANTA — Clark Atlanta University students, faculty, friends and family gathered outside Woodruff Library on Oct. 21 to honor Morgan Gamble, a student killed in a crash last week. The vigil came as the campus grieved the deaths of two students in separate incidents within a matter of weeks.

Police say a speeding driver crashed into Gamble’s car. The available information did not identify the driver or provide further details about the crash.

Gamble’s father, George Gamble, told those gathered that his daughter embraced life. “Morgan lived every day. She enjoyed life,” he said.

He thanked the community for supporting his family and said he wished Gamble could have seen the people who came to remember her. He also hoped her life would continue to inspire students.

“I just hope her story and life lingers on to inspire other students,” he said.

The vigil followed the death of Clark Atlanta student Zion Auguste, who was killed in a separate incident on I-75 just weeks earlier. University President George T. French Jr. acknowledged the pain on campus, telling mourners he did not know if anyone could understand the grief they were feeling.

As Gamble’s family and the university community mourn, her father said he hopes her legacy will live on through the people she touched.
