Rochester and Centralia districts call off Friday football matchup amid investigation

The Rochester and Centralia school districts canceled their Friday night football game after a Rochester student reported a potential threat to a Centralia School District administrator, the Rochester School District said.

A Rochester school resource officer investigated and determined the threat was credible, according to the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office. The juvenile suspected of making the threat claimed gang affiliation and targeted a specific student expected to attend the game, the sheriff’s office said.

The suspect is listed as a runaway and had not been located as of Friday, Oct. 23. Deputies were continuing their investigation and search, the sheriff’s office said.

The Rochester School District said it is exploring options to reschedule the game and will provide updates when more information is available.
