License-plate reader alert leads Auburn officers to two robbery suspects near Brannan Park

Auburn police arrested two people near Brannan Park on Oct. 20 after an automated license-plate reader system flagged a vehicle investigators had linked to robbery suspects, the department said.

The department’s Major Crimes Unit had entered information about the suspects and their car into the search system. At about 3:17 p.m., patrol officers in the area received an alert as the vehicle entered Brannan Park, police said.

Officers located the car and conducted a high-risk traffic stop. Both people were arrested, and a gun was found on one of them, according to police.

Police did not identify the suspects or provide details about the robberies in the information released about the arrests.
