A motor home collided with vehicles being used by a Washington State Patrol trooper and a Seattle Department of Transportation employee on Interstate 5 north of downtown Seattle on Sunday morning, Oct. 25, 2026, closing three lanes and the State Route 520 exit.
The workers were blocking the SR 520 exit when the crash happened near Hamlin Street, Washington State Patrol Trooper Rick Johnson said. The three left lanes of I-5 and exit 168B to SR 520 were closed while emergency crews responded and state patrol investigated.
The trooper was inside his patrol car and was taken to Harborview Medical Center with leg pain and a possible concussion, Johnson said. A passenger in the motor home was hospitalized with a broken ankle. The condition of the SDOT employee was not provided.
Authorities had no estimate for when the lanes would reopen and advised drivers to expect delays and use alternate routes.
