King County asks public to help identify man found in Lake Washington on July 4
The man’s body was found near the Montlake Cut and the University of Washington Shell House. The medical examiner’s office says he may have been 45 to 65 and is asking anyone with information to call investigators.
King County officials are asking for help identifying a man whose body was found in Lake Washington near the Montlake Cut and the University of Washington Shell House on July 4.
The King County Medical Examiner’s Office estimates the man was between 45 and 65 years old. He was about 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighed 229 pounds, and had brown eyes and dark gray hair, according to the office, which has released a sketch to aid identification.
He was wearing a gray sweatshirt and T-shirt, black jeans and black sneakers. A black backpack was also found with him.
Anyone who recognizes the man or has information that could help identify him is asked to call the medical examiner’s office at 206-731-3232, extension 5, and refer to case 26-1769.
The county’s medical examiner is working with law enforcement to identify 51 people whose remains have not been identified. The effort comes as King County continues to grapple with unclaimed deaths: At a recent memorial, clergy read the names of 626 people who died over roughly the past year without family members able to pay for their burial.
