13-year-old witnesses blast at Tacoma bail bonds office as police seek suspect
Tacoma police are searching for a man suspected of setting off an explosive outside Bad Boys Bail Bonds on Pacific Avenue Monday evening, damaging the business while people were inside. The blast shattered the front door and left scorch marks on the building. Police said no one was injured, though witnesses described feeling the explosion from blocks away. Among those inside was 13-year-old Golden Baines, whose grandmother works at the business. Baines said he watched the man place or light something outside before it exploded. He was sitting only a few feet away and said the shock wave hit his chest. Baines’ grandmother provided images of a man she believes was responsible. He was described as wearing a red beanie and a dark shirt with stripes on the sleeves. Police have not announced an arrest. Derek Gordon, who lives nearby, said the blast shook his apartment. He went to the scene and saw police and damage to the building. Tacoma police are considering potential felony charges and are asking anyone with information about the explosion or the suspect to contact them.
