Warriors reach five-year, $110 million extension agreement with Brandin Podziemski
Golden State and guard Brandin Podziemski agreed to a five-year, $110 million rookie-scale extension ahead of the Oct. 19 deadline. The contract’s first-year salary is $18.9 million, a structure intended to preserve the Warriors’ spending flexibility next summer.
The Golden State Warriors have agreed to a five-year, $110 million contract extension with guard Brandin Podziemski, securing the 23-year-old ahead of the Oct. 19 deadline for rookie-scale extensions.
Podziemski is due to earn $18.9 million in the first year of the deal, according to a league source. The contract’s structure was important to Golden State: his projected $17 million cap hold for next season would have limited the team’s ability to spend if his new salary rose substantially above that figure.
Without an extension, Podziemski would have been eligible for restricted free agency next summer, giving the Warriors the opportunity to match another team’s offer. He had said during training camp in Hawaii that he wanted to remain with Golden State, describing mutual interest between himself and the organization and saying he would welcome a deal.
Selected in the first round of the 2023 NBA draft, Podziemski has taken on a growing offensive role. His scoring average rose from 9.2 points per game as a rookie to 11.7 in his second season and 13.8 in 2025-26. The extension makes him a significant part of the Warriors’ plans while leaving the team more room to maneuver under the salary cap next summer.
