A 34-year-old Pacifica man was arrested on suspicion of attempted homicide after a stabbing outside the San Benito House in Half Moon Bay on Saturday night, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were called at about 8:30 p.m. to the 300 block of Main Street after a report of a fight outside the establishment. They found a 31-year-old man with serious injuries consistent with a stabbing. He was taken to a local hospital and was listed in stable condition.
Deputies nearby saw a person they considered suspicious running from the area and discarding a knife, the sheriff’s office said. They arrested the person, identified as Ricardo Raya, and recovered the weapon.
Investigators believe Raya and the injured man were involved in gang-related activity. The department’s Gang Intelligence Unit assisted with the investigation. Raya was booked into Maguire Correctional Facility on suspicion of attempted murder and participating in a criminal street gang.
The sheriff’s office said preliminary information points to an isolated incident and that there is no ongoing threat to the community. The allegations have not been proven in court.
