Two Rhode Island anglers cited after officers find more than 70 undersized fish
Environmental police say the fishermen had more than 70 tautog and black sea bass below state size limits. Each was cited for more than $3,000, and the fish were given to a wildlife rehabilitation center.
Two fishermen were cited after Rhode Island environmental officers found them with more than 70 tautog and black sea bass that were below state size limits, the Rhode Island Environmental Police Officers Association said Wednesday, Oct. 14.
The fish were found last week, according to the association. It said each fisherman received citations totaling more than $3,000. The fish were donated to a wildlife rehabilitation center.
The association urged anglers to check state rules on minimum fish sizes and possession limits before heading out. Such limits regulate what anglers may keep and help manage Rhode Island’s marine fisheries.
