Lawsuit alleges propane heater explosion injured woman at Providence’s Track 15
A Boston woman says a patio heater exploded at the Providence food hall in October 2025, causing severe and permanent injuries to her lower body. Her lawsuit accuses Track 15, the heater’s sellers and makers, and other companies of negligence.
A Boston woman has sued Providence food hall Track 15 and several companies, alleging a propane patio heater exploded while she was seated outside the venue and left her with severe, permanent injuries.
Michele Crowe filed the lawsuit Oct. 8 in U.S. District Court over the Oct. 4, 2025, incident at Track 15, located in Union Station. The complaint names the food hall and its corporate owners, Johnston-based Central Nurseries Inc., which sold the heater, California-based manufacturer Outdoor Plus Company Inc., makers of heater components and companies that supplied the propane.
According to the complaint, Crowe was sitting on an outdoor ledge when the heater exploded without warning. It alleges leaking propane accumulated and ignited when it reached an open flame, leaving Crowe severely burned and with permanent injuries to her lower body.
The lawsuit claims the explosion resulted from negligent assembly or installation of the heater or propane tank. It also accuses the Track 15 entities of operating an open-flame patio heater without a permit and failing to prevent gas from escaping or to maintain the propane tank properly.
Crowe is seeking unspecified damages, including compensation for medical expenses and loss of enjoyment of life. The complaint says she has incurred and will continue to face substantial medical and hospital bills.
A Track 15 spokesperson referred questions to the venue’s insurer, Travelers, which declined to comment. Crowe’s attorney, Jacob J. Lantry, did not provide comment.
