Hasbro’s Boston move puts 587 Rhode Island workers at a crossroads
Hasbro has told 587 Rhode Island-based employees they must relocate to its Boston headquarters or leave the company. The toy maker plans to close and sell its Pawtucket headquarters and complete its move to Boston by year’s end.
Hasbro has told 587 employees based in Rhode Island to relocate to its new Boston headquarters or quit, putting hundreds of workers’ jobs in question as the toy company prepares to leave Pawtucket.
The company plans to close its Pawtucket headquarters, put the property on the market and move into newly built-out office space in Boston’s Seaport district by the end of 2026.
The relocation marks a major shift for Hasbro, which was previously headquartered in Pawtucket. The company’s move will also affect Rhode Island workers who would need to move to Massachusetts to remain with the company, or depart if they do not make the transition.
