Oregon’s 17-15 loss to UCLA ends four-year AP Top 25 run
The Ducks fell out of the AP poll Sunday after a turnover-plagued home loss left them 3-2. UCLA climbed to No. 12, while Georgia took over the top spot.
Oregon dropped out of The Associated Press Top 25 on Sunday for the first time in four years, a day after losing 17-15 to UCLA at home in Eugene.
The Ducks, who began the season ranked No. 2 — their highest preseason ranking — fell to 3-2 after their second loss in the past month. Turnovers contributed to Saturday’s narrow defeat.
Oregon had not been unranked since the 2022 season opener, when a 49-3 loss to Georgia knocked the Ducks out of the poll. The team’s start this season is its roughest through five games since Oregon opened 2-5 in 2016 and finished 4-8.
UCLA, meanwhile, made one of the week’s biggest jumps, moving up nine places to No. 12 after beating Oregon.
Georgia rose to No. 1 after a 20-17 road win over Alabama, earning 66 of 70 first-place votes. Notre Dame moved to No. 2, followed by Miami, Ohio State and Indiana. Alabama stayed at No. 6, while Texas fell from No. 1 to No. 7 after losing to Oklahoma.
