Search for missing Nevada man ends with discovery at Josephine County property
A missing 67-year-old Nevada man was found buried at a rural Josephine County property after detectives investigating his disappearance encountered gunfire there. Two other men, including the missing man’s brother, were found dead inside the home.
A search for Andrew Forrest Odom, a 67-year-old Nevada man reported missing in Oregon, led investigators to a rural Josephine County property where his body was found buried Thursday, Oregon State Police said.
The discovery came two days after detectives working on Odom’s disappearance contacted a person at a home in the 10000 block of Williams Highway, in unincorporated Josephine County. Police said the person ran inside and fired at detectives.
When officers later entered the home, they found Rick Odom, 73, and his son, Spencer Odom, 40, dead from gunshot wounds. Police said Spencer Odom died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Rick Odom was Andrew Odom’s brother. Andrew Odom had traveled from Nevada to Oregon on Sept. 21 and was reported missing to Medford police on Oct. 1.
State police have not released further details about the shooting or the circumstances of Andrew Odom’s death. The investigation is continuing.
