Two preliminary tests prompt Maricopa water-boiling advisory
Maricopa residents are being told to boil tap water before using it after two preliminary tests indicated possible E. coli in the city’s drinking water. Global Water – Santa Cruz Water Company, which serves the Pinal County city, issued the precautionary advisory Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2026. The utility had not confirmed contamination, and additional testing was underway. It said residents could expect more information Thursday. Until the water is confirmed free of E. coli, bring tap water to a rolling boil for at least one minute, then let it cool before drinking or using it to cook, make ice, brush teeth or wash dishes. Bottled water is another safe option. Pitcher filters and other filtration systems do not protect against E. coli, according to the advisory information. E. coli is a bacterium that can cause intestinal illness, with added concern for people with weakened immune systems. Residents with questions can call Global Water at 866-940-1102.
