Five juvenile patients were arrested after a series of disturbances Sunday at Oasis Behavioral Health in Chandler that left staff members and police officers assaulted and several patients hospitalized after consuming stolen medication, authorities said.
Chandler police responded around 7:30 p.m. to reports of a large disturbance at the facility near Arizona Avenue and Warner Road. A nurse who was assaulted was taken to a hospital by co-workers. Police arrested one juvenile patient on suspicion of aggravated assault.
At about 10:30 p.m., while officers were investigating, several juvenile patients broke into a locked medication room and damaged a dispensing machine, police said. The patients took and consumed controlled substances.
Two additional staff members, including a nurse, were assaulted during the second incident. Two officers were also assaulted as they tried to regain control of the situation. Fire Department personnel treated multiple patients who had consumed the drugs and transported them to a hospital.
Four juvenile patients were arrested in connection with the second disturbance on suspicion of aggravated assault. Police said the facility had been the subject of 278 general-offense reports in 2026; they did not provide further details about those reports.
