Apache Junction detectives ask for leads in kidnapping case involving Pedro Torres
Police say an 18-year-old woman was forced from her home at gunpoint, held for hours and assaulted. Pedro Torres, 32, was arrested and faces eight felony charges; investigators are asking anyone with information or a similar encounter to come forward.
Apache Junction police are asking the public to help identify any other potential victims of Pedro Torres, who is accused of kidnapping and assaulting an 18-year-old woman in September.
Torres, 32, was arrested Sept. 25 and faces eight felony charges, including kidnapping, aggravated assault, sexual abuse and first-degree burglary, according to police.
Investigators said the woman was arriving home from work around 1 a.m. Sept. 24 near 16th Avenue and San Marcos Drive when a man with a gun forced her to leave with him. Police said she was held for several hours and assaulted multiple times before being released. She was severely injured and later went to a hospital, where staff contacted police.
Detectives are seeking information from anyone who may have had a similar encounter with Torres. Police have linked him to a gold or yellow 2014 Jeep Wrangler.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Apache Junction Police Department at 480-982-8260. The charges are allegations, and Torres is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
