Eagles’ four-game slide continues as Panthers pull away at Lincoln Financial Field

The Eagles’ offense struggled to sustain drives without Jalen Hurts, and Philadelphia fell 25-14 to the Carolina Panthers on Sunday at Lincoln Financial Field, extending its losing streak to four games.

The Eagles have lost four in a row for the first time since 2020 and the first time under coach Nick Sirianni. They started the season 2-0 before the skid began. Philadelphia finished with 222 net yards, its second-lowest total of the season.

Tanner McKee, making his first start outside Week 18, completed 26 of 45 passes for 215 yards and a touchdown. He was sacked three times. Hurts is on injured reserve while being treated for a superficial blood clot in his calf.

Philadelphia punted on its first five possessions. The offense found a foothold late in the first half, when running back Dameon Pierce scored from 2 yards out to cap a 10-play, 61-yard drive. The touchdown cut Carolina’s lead to 10-7 with 2:47 left in the half.

The Eagles managed little after the break until McKee led a 10-play drive in the fourth quarter. He hit DeVonta Smith for a 19-yard touchdown, bringing Philadelphia within 19-14 with 10:42 remaining. Smith, returning after missing two games with a hamstring injury, led the Eagles with seven catches for 75 yards.

Carolina answered after blocking a Braden Mann punt, taking possession at the Eagles’ 48-yard line. Quarterback Bryce Young found tight end Tommy Tremble for a 19-yard touchdown to make it 25-14. McKee’s final attempt to keep the comeback alive—a pass to Smith on fourth-and-17—was broken up by safety Zakee Wheatley.

Young also helped Carolina put the game out of reach with a 14-play, 94-yard drive in the third quarter, capped by Chuba Hubbard’s 1-yard touchdown run. The Panthers were called for 13 penalties for 149 yards, while Philadelphia had 11 penalties for 84 yards.

The Eagles’ injury absences grew during the game. Carson Steele, Nolan Smith Jr. and Jordan Davis were ruled out; Nolan Smith Jr. sustained a concussion. Dontayvion Wicks also went down with a right ankle injury in the fourth quarter.
