A man was arrested Thursday morning after a fatal stabbing at a home near Arch and Edgewood streets in West Philadelphia, followed by a brief barricade standoff, police said.
Firefighters responded around 9 a.m. to a report of a stabbing, Philadelphia Police Deputy Commissioner Frank Vanore said. Inside, authorities found a man estimated to be between 60 and 70 years old dead. Two women were also in the home with the suspect, Vanore said.
Police declared a barricade situation, then safely removed the women and took the man into custody, Vanore said. The suspect’s identity had not been released, and police had not described what led to the stabbing.
