Three men were injured early Sunday when a car hit a stationary construction crane on a closed ramp to northbound Interstate 95 in Philadelphia, police said.
The crash happened around 4:04 a.m. on Oct. 18 at the ramp near Delaware Avenue and Lombard Street. Police said a preliminary investigation found that a gray 2012 Honda Accord was traveling north on Delaware Avenue when its driver tried to enter the ramp, which was closed for construction.
The car struck an oversized crane that was unoccupied and stationary on the ramp, police said. The driver injured his right leg and shoulder and was taken to Jefferson Main Hospital in stable condition. The front-seat passenger was also taken to Jefferson Main in critical condition. A rear-seat passenger was transported to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital, also in critical condition.
Police said the investigation is ongoing.
