Fairhill rowhome fire claims second life; mother of 3-year-old dies

A 22-year-old woman has died from injuries suffered in a rowhome fire that killed her 3-year-old daughter in Philadelphia’s Fairhill neighborhood, officials said Wednesday.

The fire broke out around 3:30 a.m. Sunday on the 3300 block of D Street. The child died in the blaze, and her mother later died from her injuries.

Two other relatives were hurt: the woman’s 24-year-old sister and her 5-year-old son. Their conditions were not reported.

Fire investigators determined that a lithium-ion battery used for an e-bike caused the fire. Officials also said the home had no working smoke detectors.
