Bucks County Prosecutors Charge New Jersey Deputy Attorney General in AI Abuse-Material Case

A New Jersey deputy attorney general from Lower Makefield Township, Pennsylvania, has been arrested on charges that he created and shared AI-generated child sexual abuse material, Bucks County prosecutors said.

Brian Richard Fitzgerald, 51, was charged with possessing and disseminating child sexual abuse material and with criminal use of a communication facility. He is being held at the Bucks County Correctional Facility on $2 million bail, set at 10%. A preliminary hearing was scheduled for later in October.

The investigation began after the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children sent authorities a tip about an illicit file shared on Discord on July 10, 2026, according to the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office. Digital forensic work led investigators to an account associated with Fitzgerald’s home on Edgewood Road in Lower Makefield Township, prosecutors said.

Detectives searched the home on Oct. 15 and found prompts and scripts they say were used to generate the material. Prosecutors also said Discord chat logs showed Fitzgerald acknowledged creating and sharing AI-generated images.

Fitzgerald is employed as a deputy attorney general in the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office. The charges are allegations, and he is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
