Jalen Williams leaves Thunder win on stretcher; team expects to provide update Monday

OKLAHOMA CITY — Thunder forward Jalen Williams was taken off the court on a stretcher late Sunday after suffering a leg injury during Oklahoma City’s 108-101 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers at Paycom Center.

Williams went down beneath the basket with 1:14 remaining after being fouled while driving to the hoop. Medical staff quickly attended to him, and play stopped for about five minutes as a stretcher was brought onto the court. Players from both teams looked shaken as Williams was helped away; he gave two thumbs up while leaving.

The Thunder had not disclosed the nature or severity of the injury or how long Williams might be out. The team was expected to provide more information Monday. It was not yet known whether he would play again during the 2026-27 season.

The injury comes after Williams missed much of the 2025-26 season and part of Oklahoma City’s playoff run because of leg problems. The Thunder’s postseason ended in the Western Conference finals.

“It's unfortunate his, his luck so far. But he's equipped for it. He's, he's a warrior guy,” teammate Shai Gilgeous-Alexander said after the game.

Coach Mark Daigneault said the injury was difficult for players on both teams. Oklahoma City Mayor David Holt also posted a message of support for Williams.

The win moved the Thunder to 3-0 to open the season. Oklahoma City was scheduled to host the Phoenix Suns on Monday night. Two other Thunder players also left Sunday’s game with injuries: Cason Wallace with left shoulder soreness and Jaylin Williams with a right wrist injury.
