Three More Tecumseh School Employees Put on Leave as Police Probe Widens
A joint Tecumseh police and Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation inquiry now involves four district employees, including the high school principal, athletic director and counselor. Officials have not disclosed what the investigation concerns and say administrative leave is not disciplinary action.
TECUMSEH, Okla. — A police investigation involving Tecumseh Public Schools has widened to include four employees, the district and Tecumseh Police Department said Wednesday, Oct. 14.
The investigation, conducted jointly by Tecumseh police and the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, initially became public last month when head football coach Randon Lowe was placed on administrative leave. Police have since added three employees to the inquiry: Tecumseh High School Principal Jaime Griggs, Athletic Director Casi Bayes and counselor Erin Meyers. All four employees are on leave.
The district has not disclosed the investigation’s subject or the circumstances behind it. In a letter to families Wednesday, Superintendent Robert Kinsey said leave should not be interpreted as a disciplinary measure.
“Administrative leave is not disciplinary,” Kinsey said, adding that it gives investigators room to conduct their work and protects the integrity of the process. He said the district is cooperating with the investigating agencies.
Tecumseh Public Schools previously said its ability to discuss personnel matters is limited by its responsibility to protect the privacy of students and employees, and that it would provide updates when appropriate.
The inquiry brings together local police and the state investigative agency, while the district’s four affected employees remain away from their jobs as the investigation proceeds.
