A 31-year-old Hinton man died early Thursday after his vehicle collided with a disabled tractor-trailer on Interstate 40 near the Geary and Watonga exit, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol said.

Brandon Schopfer was driving on I-40 at about 5:30 a.m. when he lost control for an undetermined reason, according to the patrol’s report. His vehicle went off the road to the left, returned to the highway and spun before striking the rear of the parked semi.

The crash occurred near Mile Marker 107. Schopfer was the only person in his vehicle and was not wearing a seat belt, the report said.

The tractor-trailer had stopped on the outside shoulder because of a flat tire. Its driver, who was from Arizona, was not injured. Schopfer died from his injuries.
