Four taken into custody after reported shooting near Newalla convenience store
Cleveland County deputies say gunfire was exchanged between occupants of a gray truck and a gray car near Pecan Valley Junction on Oct. 22. Four people were arrested; one faces additional firearm- and assault-related charges.
Four people have been arrested after witnesses reported gunfire between two vehicles near a Newalla convenience store, according to the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded around noon Thursday, Oct. 22, to the area near Pecan Valley Junction. Witnesses told investigators that people in a gray Toyota truck and a gray Honda car exchanged shots, the sheriff’s office said.
Jesse Owens was arrested after deputies found an outstanding warrant, and was also charged with possessing a firearm during the commission of a felony, assault and battery with a deadly weapon, using a vehicle in the discharge of a weapon, and possessing drug paraphernalia, according to the sheriff’s office.
Torey Harris, Kenneth Doner II and Brody Williams were also arrested on outstanding warrants. The sheriff’s office did not specify whether those warrants were related to the reported shooting.
Sheriff Darrell Weaver said firing weapons on a public road endangers motorists and others in the area. He said the office would pursue those involved and seek to hold them accountable.
