Vanderbilt police arrest 31-year-old in hospital lobby sexual battery case
A 31-year-old man was arrested after a woman reported that he touched her while she was sleeping in the lobby of Vanderbilt University Hospital early Sunday, according to Vanderbilt University Police Department (VUPD). Police identified the man as Jerry W. Christopher and said he had previously been instructed to stay away from the hospital. Arrest documents say the woman told officers Christopher approached and touched her, and did not stop when she objected. She said she felt scared, uncomfortable and offended. Responding officers detained Christopher, and VUPD obtained security video of the incident, police said. Christopher was charged with felony sexual battery and multiple misdemeanors, including aggravated criminal trespass and resisting arrest. His bond was set at $6,500. The charges are allegations; the case has not been decided in court.
