TBI seeks public’s help locating escaped inmate near Tiptonville
Jacob Allen Morley, 28, escaped from the Northwest Correctional Complex on Oct. 25 and was later seen on video taking a pickup truck in the Tiptonville area, authorities said. Officials are asking residents to check security footage and call 911 or the TBI tip line with information—not approach him.
Authorities are searching for Jacob Allen Morley, a 28-year-old serving a life sentence, after he escaped from the Northwest Correctional Complex in Tiptonville late Sunday, Oct. 25, the Tennessee Department of Correction said.
Prison staff discovered Morley was missing at about 11:30 p.m. and began searching the facility. A review of security camera footage indicated he had crossed the perimeter fence and left wearing his TDOC uniform, the department said.
Video obtained Monday showed Morley taking a white 2008 Ford F-350 at about 1 a.m. from Keystone Drive in the Tiptonville area, a short distance from the prison. The truck bears Tennessee plate 138BBQV, has an air compressor in its bed and is marked with the name Lindamood Planting Company, according to authorities.
Morley was convicted in Carter County of first-degree murder, aggravated burglary, tampering with evidence, evading arrest and vandalism. He is about 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighs roughly 240 pounds, with brown hair and green eyes, according to the TDOC.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has placed Morley on its Most Wanted List and is offering a reward of up to $2,500 for information leading to his arrest. The TBI is asking residents to review security-camera footage for signs of Morley or the pickup.
Officials warn people not to try to apprehend him. Anyone with information should call 911 or the TBI at 1-844-832-3463. TDOC said it is working with law enforcement agencies to locate him.
