Relative discovers 64-year-old man fatally shot in North Nashville apartment
Johnny Menifee was found dead Saturday morning at Andrew Jackson Courts, and Nashville police believe he was shot overnight by someone he knew. Investigators say they are pursuing strong leads, but have not announced an arrest.
A relative found 64-year-old Johnny Menifee dead inside his North Nashville apartment Saturday morning and called police, according to the Metro Nashville Police Department.
Officers were dispatched just after 8 a.m. to Andrew Jackson Courts apartments. Police said they believe Menifee was shot during the night by someone he knew. The department has not publicly identified a suspect and said investigators are following strong leads.
The homicide investigation unfolded a few blocks from Jefferson Street as crowds gathered for Tennessee State University’s Homecoming Parade.
Menifee’s family said he was the youngest of seven siblings and the first in the family to die.
