Brewers tailgaters arrive hours before World Series Game 1 gates open

MILWAUKEE — As the Brewers prepared to host Game 1 of the 2026 World Series on Oct. 23, Cindy Jorgensen and her friends were among the first fans waiting to enter the parking lot and claim tailgating spots.

The group has returned to the line over the years, turning the wait into a friendly rivalry and a full-day ritual. They had drinks and snacks ready well before the gates were scheduled to open at 3 p.m.

“We just make a day of it,” Jorgensen said.

Megan Slawinski, who said she is from the Tampa Bay area, sent a photo of the early crowd taken at about 9:45 a.m. She said she wanted to share the scene with friends to show the dedication and tradition of Brewers baseball.

The gathering offered a glimpse of how Milwaukee fans marked the franchise’s return to the World Series: not only by following the game, but by making the hours around it part of the occasion.
