Wrong-way collision on Highway 16 in Waukesha County leaves 23-year-old dead
A 23-year-old woman died after driving east in the westbound lanes of Highway 16 and colliding head-on with two vehicles Sunday night. Two people were hospitalized with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
A 23-year-old woman was killed Sunday night in a wrong-way crash on Highway 16 in Waukesha County, and two people from other vehicles were taken to the hospital, authorities said.
The woman was the only person in her car, which was traveling east in the highway’s westbound lanes when it collided head-on with two vehicles, according to sheriff’s deputies. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The two people in the other vehicles suffered injuries that were not considered life-threatening, deputies said. Highway 16 was closed for about six hours overnight as authorities responded to the crash. The collision remains under investigation.
