The Milwaukee Area Domestic Animal Control Commission says it has reached capacity and is looking to place 116 cats, kittens and dogs with new families. As of Sept. 30, 2026, the West Milwaukee shelter had 55 cats and kittens and 61 dogs available for adoption. MADACC is waiving fees for cats 5 months and older; kittens younger than 5 months cost $50. Adoption fees for dogs vary. The shelter said all animals available for adoption have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated and microchipped, so they can go home with adopters immediately. Milwaukee County residents who adopt an animal 4 months or older must also buy a county license, which costs $12. MADACC is at 3839 W.
