Rufus King band instructor faces three sexual assault charges
Antonio Kitchens, 26, is accused of sexually assaulting students at Milwaukee’s Rufus King High School between October 2025 and October 2026. He is jailed on $25,000 bond as investigators pursue leads involving two other potential victims.
A band and drumline instructor at Milwaukee’s Rufus King High School has been charged with sexually assaulting students, with prosecutors alleging incidents took place at the school over the past year.
Antonio Kitchens, 26, faces two felony counts of sexual assault of a student by school staff and one count of attempted sexual assault, according to a criminal complaint filed Monday, Oct. 19. He is being held in the Milwaukee County Jail on a $25,000 bond.
The complaint alleges Kitchens isolated male students in the school auditorium, sometimes saying he needed to discuss their grades or absences. Students told investigators he sat beside them and, while a laptop was placed on a student’s lap, touched them over their clothing.
One student said the conduct happened repeatedly and led him to avoid the band program, according to the complaint. Another described moving away from Kitchens, who allegedly shifted position to continue the contact. That student eventually stood up and left the auditorium.
The allegations came to light after a student spoke with a friend and later an orchestra teacher. Investigators are pursuing leads involving two additional potential victims, the report said.
The school principal said teachers receive specific training that prohibits being alone with students behind closed doors, touching students and texting them outside approved communication channels.
Kitchens has not been convicted. If found guilty on all three counts, he could face up to 15 years in prison and $25,000 in fines.
