MILWAUKEE — For 44 years, Warren Bohn has kept a chocolate bar tied to the Milwaukee Brewers’ 1982 postseason in his freezer. He believes it was bought at Milwaukee County Stadium, the former ballpark site now known as Helfaer Field, though he isn’t certain where it came from.

Bohn, a Milwaukee native who calls himself a collector, has held on to the candy through a move to a new house in 1987, power outages and family life. His other Brewers keepsakes include a ticket from Robin Yount’s 3,000th hit.

“I like collecting things,” Bohn said. He described the candy bar as “very special” and recalled that it was kept away from his children, joking that not all of them could read the warning on its packaging.

The bar is connected to a memorable season for Milwaukee: the Brewers reached the 1982 World Series after playing in the American League Championship Series. Bohn said he would be delighted to see the team win another championship, but the old candy won’t be part of any celebration.

“I don’t think it is edible anymore,” he said. “I am not going to open it.”
