Priced out of Game 1, Brewers fans find a view through American Family Field windows
Fans without tickets gathered at windows around American Family Field to watch the Brewers’ World Series opener from outside the seating area. The scene unfolded as some ticket prices reached levels a Milwaukee broker said were comparable to those in major baseball markets.
MILWAUKEE — Some Brewers fans who couldn’t get into Game 1 of the World Series found another way to follow the action Friday: watching through windows at American Family Field.
Fans gathered along windows that appeared to offer a view of the field from near the stadium’s second level. One fan said they were walking around the ballpark when they noticed an opening and stopped to watch, calling the game a rare opportunity.
The makeshift viewing spots came amid steep prices for World Series tickets. Fans trying to buy tickets online or in person Thursday encountered unexpectedly high costs, though some who waited in line at the stadium still made purchases.
John Lamoreaux, of Milwaukee ticket broker Ticket King, said prices were among the highest he had seen in most markets, comparing them with those for World Series appearances by teams such as the Yankees, Red Sox or Cubs.
Other Brewers supporters have traveled south to find lower-priced ways to watch the team’s World Series run.
