Milwaukee bars prepare for Brewers World Series surge with extra beer, staff and security

MILWAUKEE — Bars in Milwaukee are increasing beer orders, bringing in more staff and preparing for larger crowds as Brewers fans get ready to watch the World Series during Halloween weekend.

Water Street Brewery ordered more than 100 cases of Miller Lite for the games — about five times its usual beer order, General Manager Jake Shovan said. The brewery also plans to open Monday and Tuesday for Games 3 and 4, although it is normally closed those days.

Shovan said the added shifts will require the bar to staff those nights as it would a typical Friday or Saturday.

Nomad World Pub on Brady Street is also expanding its preparations. The bar has set up a trailer outside to hold extra beer, and General Manager Sydney Gaskell said it has increased its inventory after running out of Miller Lite during an early Brewers playoff game. The pub is also adding security measures to help handle the crowds.

Milwaukee police said they are preparing for larger crowds but would not discuss specific staffing or operational plans. The department urged people to watch for increased pedestrian and vehicle traffic, stay aware of their surroundings, celebrate responsibly and report suspicious activity.

The World Series games overlap with Halloween weekend, creating a particularly busy stretch for bars and the surrounding neighborhoods.
